The Laws of Personal Attraction: Tricks of Confidence
As Abraham tells Jerry Hicks, the fundamental law of attraction is “That which is like unto itself, is drawn.” What does this mean to you?
Be aware of what kind of energy you’re sending out (so you get the right kind of energy back!)
- · If you are happy with who you are, and confident that the rest of the world is just waiting to discover you, then chances are, you’re 100% correct.
- · If you are a little reserved, and fearful that no one will talk with you, then unfortunately you are probably right about that too.
Luckily, the messages we send our body and brain from the outside-in can change how we feel, and how other people respond to us!
The next time you are feeling less-than-knock-‘em-dead, try these quick tricks:
Get to a mirror. Look yourself deep in the eyes for a full thirty seconds, then smile. I’m not talking about a weak, measly smile. I’m talking about a full-on eye-crinkler. The kind you give the baby in the checkout line. The kind you’d give an old friend. Warm, inviting, friendly.
Why this works: Smile at yourself like that as often as you can, because even if you feel a little silly, you’re sending those warm fuzzies right to your brain. Studies have shown that the expression you have on your face can impact your mood, and the expression you show yourself when you look in the mirror has the biggest effect on your self-esteem. So be sure to give that reflection some love whenever you see it!
Practice great posture. If you’re in an uncomfortable social situation, and you find yourself turning into a wallflower, think about the yoga pose “Tadasana” for a few moments.
- · Relax your shoulders down away from your ears, let your shoulder-blades float down your back like gently folded wings
- · Draw the crown of your head toward the ceiling and tilt your chin down just a smidgen
- · Tuck your pelvis in slightly and activate your abdomen
- · Take nice, deep belly-breaths
Why this works: From across the room, you will look confident and strong as a mountain! Inside your body, the deep abdominal breathing will relax and ground you while it lowers your blood pressure. Your body will get the message from your posture that you are in control of the situation and fill you with a surge of confidence from the inside out!
Find your birds of a feather and flock with them. Don’t take my word for it. Try these tricks out! Take your Tadasana on the road and attend the New Age Connection Singles Event at Art Space International. Heck! Why not test it out on your next trip to Whole Foods?
